It’s way past time for all Governments to get off their pile of voter opinion woes and get into gear with Solar power. I believe it is the best option, not because I don’t like the other forms of alternative energy generation (except Hydro) but because there should be no issues about locations for this energy source. We have available roof space on virtually every building and this space is not being utilised.
Of course, there is the added benefit that these rooftops are located right in the mains power grid, something that wind turbines do not offer. Wind turbines will experience some power loss as the electricity is transported ove the distance to the grid.
Hydro power generates far too much methane for it to be considered a green energy source; depending on the location of the dam, Hydro plants can produce as much or more greenhouse emissions than the equivalent coal fired station.
